Under 13s versus Wheldrake and Heworth B

May 6th @ Wheldrake CC :

The Team were asked to bat, having lost the toss, but were given an excellent start by Luck and Burton with an excellent opening stand before Luck (19) ‘ played round a straight one ‘ !

After losing the Captain Wolfe Morn maintained the momentum with an excellent ‘ knock ‘ (31rtd) and after Burton also retired (30) for the second week running, Tom Gledden settled in for 28 no to ensure the Home Team were left chasing a very competitive 154-2.

The bowling was sensibly shared around and after a reasonable start the runs began to ‘ dry up ‘ as there were good performances by many and wickets fell steadily, 1 wicket each for 7 Bowlers and 2 for Finlay Recchia, with our Opponents finally being bowled out for 63 and a Win by 91 runs.

A very solid performance with, once again, some excellent individual contributions.

May 13th Home Heworth B CC :

Captained by Jack Wilson, we again batted first after winning the Toss, opening with George Burton and Hugo Nixon.  We had a very solid start before Nixon unfortunately ‘chopped on’ for 18, as we reached half way on 49-1, at which point Finlay Recchia joined Burton who shortly afterwards was disappointingly going the other way heading back to the Pavilion for a steady 13.

The Captain came and went for a single to leave Recchia with U.11 Player Noah Watson and together they took the score up to 90-3 in the 16th over, before a late charge and an understandable clatter of wickets left us on 114-6 – with excellent knocks from Recchia 24, Watson 15, a superb boundary 4 from Henry Budgen and U.9 debutant Jack Robinson 4 no.

Our bowling was clearly too straight and full for the Heworth B players who struggled to put ‘bat to ball’ as wickets tumbled and we completely cleaned them up : 17 All Out.

Aiden Doeg 3 for 3, Jack Robinson 3 for 6, Noah Watson 2 for 2 and Louis Toulmin 2 for 4 shared all 10 wickets for a comprehensive Win by 97 runs.

An excellent all round display and the B Team remain unbeaten as they head this Sunday morning to North Duffield.
